My name is Joseph Leon Laurenzana.
I’m 40 years old and come from the Fort Yuma Indian Reservation. I’ve been court-ordered to Turning Point Ministries for one year—and I thank my Lord and Creator for giving me this opportunity for freedom instead of facing seven years in prison.
Each morning I wake up outside
prison walls, I’m reminded of God’s mercy. For the last 15 to 20 years, my life has been a cycle of incarceration, addiction, and destruction.
I’ve been in and out of the Imperial and Yuma County jails, as well as the Arizona Department of Corrections. Before coming to Turning Point, I was headed downhill fast. I picked up two cases in Imperial County and another in Yuma County—gun and drug charges that once again brought pain to those I love.
I broke the trust of my family, destroyed my marriage, and lost my relationship with my sons. But by God’s grace and mercy, I’m now at Turning Point—learning to renew my heart and mind through Him.
I’ve surrendered control of my life to the Lord, knowing that my own ways only led to chaos.
Today, I have hope—hope for healing, hope for reconciliation with my family, and hope for a future free from addiction and darkness. I pray that my life can be a testimony to others who are struggling, and that I may shine a light for those still lost in the lifestyle I once lived.
Thank you to Turning Point and to everyone who supports this ministry. You are helping change lives.
