"LORD my God, I called to you for help,
and you healed me...

I’m 55 years old, and I came to Turning Point Men’s Home when I realized I couldn’t keep living the way I had been. I thank God every day for giving me another chance at life.

From a young age, drugs were a part of my story. My mother raised ten  children on her own, and without a father in the picture, our home lacked structure and guidance.

I grew up feeling invisible—like no one had time to love me...

That emptiness led me to search for love and meaning through addiction. One drug led to another, and the cycle continued.

Eventually, I reached a breaking point. I was deeply addicted to multiple substances, and I couldn’t see a way out. In my desperation, I cried out to God.

I didn’t realize it at the time, but He heard me.

Despite being trapped in the same destructive lifestyle, trying to make fast money, everything came crashing down. I was arrested and sent to a Federal Detention Center—not in Arizona, where I’d lived all my life—but in California.

Even behind bars, God was at work. When my release date came, I could’ve gone back to Arizona—but I knew I needed something different. While incarcerated, someone gave me the number to Pastor Norman Chandler, director of Turning Point Men’s Home. I called and asked if there was a bed available.

I was ready for a fresh start and eager to grow the relationship I had just begun with the Lord.

Adjusting to the program wasn’t easy, but it quickly became clear that God was moving here. Through the staff, leaders, and my fellow students, I began to witness transformation— and I began to change too. I knew I was exactly where God wanted me to be.

I don’t know what the future holds, but I know who holds it. I’m becoming a better man—one who desires to walk in God’s will. I hope to share my story with anyone willing to listen, because if God can change my life, He can change anyone’s.
